Be an important part of the development process for the latest artistic creation from interdisciplinary performer and writer Jennifer Whitcomb-Oliva. Presented in partnership with Kindling Arts Festival, SEVEN dives into the intersection of Blackness and Fatness through the lens of the Seven Deadly Sins and the Seven Heavenly Virtues.
In this unique story circle, designed specifically for Black women who identify as plus-sized and/or fat, Jennifer will share personal stories and invite other women to share their own experiences with “the F word.” Together, the women in this safe space will not only commiserate on the challenges placed by society on large women, but will leave with an empowered sense of community and self-confidence.
The session will not be recorded and no identifiable names or details from any individual will be used in the final artistic work. Mental health professionals will be available as a resource.
This is a free and virtual event. Our session is a safe place for women of color, as such this is not an event for non-POC or male allies. ("Women of color” refers to cis and trans women, femme, and non-binary people who are ethnic minorities or indigenous peoples.)
