Words Caught in My Throat: “In the Shadows” Screening and Discussion on the Impact of Muted Power on Women and Girls of Color

Leading up to the celebration of Juneteenth, the Belcourt presents a virtual screening and discussion of “In the Shadows,” a short film created as part of the Words Caught in My Throat Film Seminar for Black 7th and 8th Grade Girls. The seminar was held in 2018 at the Belcourt, with support from the Highlander Research and Education Center’s We Shall Overcome Fund.

On Thu, Jun 18 at 7pm, producer and co-director Meleisha Edwards and seminar creator and leader Melissa Gordon will make opening remarks. Following the 13-minute film, Edwards and Gordon will join in a discussion with members of the film’s cast and crew, moderated by Erika Burnett of The Burnett Group and the Women of Color Collaborative.
